• Serve the family of God by relating rightly with each other! (vv. 1-2)
• Serve the family of God by learning to show godliness in our own families. (vv. 3-8)
• Serve the family of God by giving the adversary no occasion for slander. (vv. 9-16)

Questions for Study/Discussion

• How do you relate to those older, younger and of a different gender than you in the church?  If you have to address an issue or confront someone, how do you handle that based on the above criteria?
• What are ways you display your godliness in your own immediate family?  What ways do you feel convicted need to change according to this passage?
• According to vv. 5-6 and 9-16, what are ways that we can give occasion for slander in how we relate to one another?  Are there any of these that you see potential for in yourself?  What is God calling you to do about it?
• What is one thing that God is moving you to remember, do or change in response to what you have heard today?
