Sermon Series:

This week, pastor Eric Byrom returns to the lectern to talk about Paul defending his ministry.

Sermon Passage: 2 Corinthians 11:16-12:10

Sermon Outline

  1. Let you weakness allow God to commend you, not because of your experience, but through your emptiness.
  2. Let your weakness allow God to commend you, not exalting self, but exposing God
  3. Let your weakness allow God to commend you by allowing God's grace to be sufficient for you not tomorrow, but today.

Discussion/Study Questions

  • Are you finding God’s grace more glorious and moving now than you have in the past?
  • What are ways we tend to try to commend ourselves according to the ways the world commends things rather than letting God commend us?  Why do you think we so easily fall into this?
  • In what ways have you been tempted to make experiences of the Holy Spirit in ecstasy the mark of God’s approval rather than His granting of grace in the sufferings of life?  What might this look like?
  • In what ways have you seen how suffering exposes the glory of God in your life?
  • How have you experienced the sufficiency of Christ’s grace for what you are facing today?
  • What is one thing that God would have you to change, remember or do in response to what you heard today?
